Apple’s iPad 2 is finally here in China. But only the Wi-FI version.
Starting from RMB 3,688 (US$568) for the 16 GB iPad 2, Apple fans in China can now purchase them online or in Apple stores. The queue is already long in Sanlitun (三里屯) Apple Store, Beijing. The usual scene we would expect for any product launch from Apple.

“iPad is really hot in China. A lot of my friends are really excited about today’s iPad 2 launch. But most of them who really want it have already purchased them in the U.S. They asked their friends to bring it [iPad 2] over,” John Chen who works at one of the Internet companies in Beijing, China, explained to me via email.
Despite great reception for the iPad 2, Mac OS X usage is “ice-cold” in China, at least compared to other Asian countries like Singapore and Japan.
The iPad 2 was also made available in 12 other countries including Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Korea, India and Singapore last week.
