BharatPe close to hitting unicorn status with $108m in fresh funding

India-based fintech firm BharatPe announced it has raised US$108 million in its latest round of funding at a valuation of US$900 million.

  • Returning investors: Ribbit Capital, Insight Partners, Steadview Capital, Beenext, Amplo and Sequoia Capital.
  • Stage: Series D

  • The company said it raised US$90 million in a primary fundraise and ensured a secondary exit for its angel investors and employees for a total amount of US$18 million.
  • BharatPe has raised a total of US$268 million in equity and debt to date.
  • The fintech firm aims to deliver US$30 billion in total payment volume and build a loan book of US$700 million with small merchants by March 2023.
  • The Indian firm has seen its payments business grow 5x and its lending business grow 10x over the last 12 months.
