Introducing the six finalist startups of Startup Arena 2022
Six contenders will go head to head in the grand finals of this year’s Startup Arena Pitch Battle. The event is focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) startups for the second year in a row and has a grand prize of US$10,000 in cash up for grabs, as well as other attractive prizes courtesy of East Ventures, Sinar Mas Digital Ventures (SMDV), Amazon Web Services, Cariuma, Fuse, Morning, Wizly, and Xendit.
On September 22, the finalists will be pitching live on stage at the Tech in Asia Conference to a wide audience as well as a panel of four judges: Yinwei Liang, principal at East Ventures; Dimitra Taslim, vice president at GGV Capital; Tanah Sullivan, group head of sustainability at GoTo; and Edward Prawira Judokusumo, principal at SMDV.
Here’s a look at the six finalists and what they do.
Operva AI
Operva AI operates a cloud-based platform that empowers pilots and enterprises to fly drones autonomously and visualize maps and 3D data.
The Singapore-based firm uses this technology to help real estate developers and owners conduct building inspections and source solution partners effectively.
Ultimately, its solutions address workplace safety concerns at construction sites and real estate inspections whilst boosting the efficiency of inspections.
AMX UAV
Another drone company, Indonesia-based AMX UAV focuses on aerial mapping projects. The firm’s vertical take off-landing drone, AMX Vertic, enables the collection of digital spatial data, which can contribute significantly to a variety of verticals in Industry 4.0. These include the infrastructure, environment, mining, plantation, and tourism sectors.
The AMX Vertic is useful in areas like agricultural and forestry monitoring and disaster mitigation.
Zuno Carbon
Zuno Carbon is a Singapore-based company that provides end-to-end carbon management solutions that help organizations measure, offset, and reduce emissions. It does this by integrating across a company’s business chain and collecting activity data.
With growing global commitments to reaching net zero emissions, Zuno Carbon’s solutions simplify and automate the greenhouse gas accounting and reporting process while also offering mitigation measures. This helps organizations save time and resources that would otherwise be spent on data collection and reporting – Zuno Carbon claims that it can use artificial intelligence to cut the cost of greenhouse gas accounting by up to 75%.
Little Wallet
Over 70% of Southeast Asia’s adult population is considered unbanked or underbanked. Amid the rising adoption of digital payments, improving financial education and inclusion is an important part of the region’s future.
Little Wallet aims to help the next generation with this, serving as a financial app for the whole family. The startup’s mission is to help parents raise their kids to be smart with money.
CBE Eco-Solutions
The danger that industrial waste poses to the environment does not need to be rehashed. CBE Eco-Solutions offers a solution that treats industrial carbon waste in a two-fold manner: First, it recycles the waste into high-value products such as activated carbon, which can be used for waste water treatment, instead of disposing of them via burning and landfills. Secondly, the products it manufactures from waste have broad energy and environmental applications.
Damai Tech
Indonesia-based Damai Tech provides solutions for farming crop management.
The firm develops sensors that can detect and monitor nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels in the soil along with other metrics such as temperature, moisture, salinity, and pH levels. Damai Tech also develops irrigation control and autonomous fertilizer systems.
