Indonesia’s Celestian Tales: Old North RPG hits its campaign goal on Kickstarter, moves into stretch goals

Imagine a sweeping epic of a roleplaying game with a morals-driven storyline, six different points of view, multiple personal story arcs for characters, and beautifully hand-drawn art. Now imagine that coming from the vibrant game development scene in…you guessed it, Bandung, Indonesia.

Bandung-based Ekuator Games’ Kickstarter for its RPG Celestian Tales: Old North has hit its NZ$30,000 goal just twelve days after going live. It looks like second time was the charm for this game studio, as this is the second time Ekuator Games has set up a Kickstarter campaign for the same game. The first attempt in mid-2013 failed to reach its target in spite of considerable support.

Instead of giving up, however, the studio decided to listen to feedback from its fans in order to improve on Celestian Tales: Old North. The present campaign showcases a significantly differently—and more mature—game compared to what was initially shown.

Celestian Tales will offer players a choice of six different playable characters, each telling you the story from his or her perspective. Later on in the game, the characters will meet up and continue the main storyline together.

This JRPG-inspired game is intended to span three decades in total, and will let players watch the characters and lands grow with time. Additional content will be released in episodes, with each episode detailing a different era in time.

There’s still 20 days to go before the Kickstarter campaign ends, so you’ve got more than enough time to pitch in for the stretch goals, which include additional story arcs, improved backgrounds and animation, and improved game audio.

Celestian Tales: Old North will be released for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and is also waiting to be Greenlit on Steam.
