The final round of this year’s Blackberry JamHack Asia wrapped up on Friday. The two-day event in Bangkok brought all the winning developers from 10 cities across Asia – Bangalore, Delhi, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh, Jakarta, Melbourne, and Shanghai. In the end, Indonesian-made Soccer Ticker app emerged as the grand champion.
The Soccer Ticker app for BlackBerry 10 (which, like the new OS, is not yet launched) simply allows users to receive football match updates. The app has a social function too, where users can also be connected to the Blackberry Messenger (BBM) service so they can comment about game scores and interact with their friends about match results.
The runner up was Melbourne’s Hive app, which allows employees in an organization to access a ridesharing network for taxis, enabling them and the organization to save money on corporate travel. Third position went to Ho Chi Minh’s Life Box 365 app. The app helps users save and plan their ideas and goals using multimedia input.
The three teams will receive business consultancy and marketing support from RIM. The developers of the Soccer Ticker app, the Inspira Solusi Indonesia company, have received $10,000 money prize and will get an all expenses paid trip to the Blackberry 10 global launch at the end of January 2013.
