Tabulet Troy Takes on Indonesia’s Tablet Market

Tabulet Troy

A locally made Indonesian tablet PC, Tabulet Troy, has launched today at a price of about $270. Tabulet is confident that it can win over 50 percent of the market share in Indonesia.

Tabulet has a seven-inch screen, runs Android 2.2 (Froyo) and comes with a remote control. Users can also upgrade the OS through the official website and download various games from the Android Market. Tabulet is powered by an ARM Cortex A9 processor, the same one used by Apple’s iPad 2.

“Tablet brings sophisticated quality but at a much more friendly price. That’s why we believe Tabulet Troy is suited to the needs of users in Indonesia,” said product manager Tablet Raymond Widjaja.

Other branded tablets in Indonesia such as the iPad or Galaxy Tab are considered not as direct competitors, although they have similar technology. With a far cheaper price than those high-end tablets, Tabulet is hopeful it can win at least half of the tablet market share in Indonesia, and not just in the local tablet segment.

In the increasingly crowded tablet scene in Indonesia, the economical Tabulet is a surprising upstart that will likely change the dynamics of that whole market segment.
