Dmitry Volkov, co-founder and CEO of Singapore-based cybersecurity firm Group-IB, said he has sold his stake in the firm’s Russian business to its local management team, marking the company’s exit from the market.
The company’s trademarks and branding will no longer be used in Russia. This marks the completion of Group-IB’s plan to diversify its regional business, which was announced in 2022.
The plan involved separating its business and technical units and moving its key teams and technologies to other regions. Group-IB Global, which owns all of the company’s intellectual property and patents, is now in charge of the company’s assets in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Now, the firm plans to set up new Digital Crime Resistance Centers (DCRC) in Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and India in 2023 and 2024. These centers will have experienced researchers who will track local threats, investigate cybercrimes, respond to incidents, and support clients and partners in these regions.
