Zapak.com, the leading online gaming company in India, is launching Zapak Plus, the first subscription based gaming model in India. By subscribing, the user can download full-version games onto their personal computer.
According to a report last year, India has seen an 89% increase in gamers since 2007. Furthermore 41.2% of the total active internet users in India are actually gamers, according to a report by IAMAI.
A study by Vizisense shows that Zapak.com is the top gaming portal in India, accumulating 18 million page views in the month of May:

The new Zapak Plus package will feature game titles across many genres from popular international publishers like Codemasters, Popcap, Alawar, and Absolutist. Previously available only to Airtel Broadband customers, it’ll now be available to all users for a monthly fee of Rs 99 (US$2.20) per month for 120 games. A dedicated microsite (Zapakplus.com) has been launched where users can browse through all the available categories, such as action, strategy, sports, arcade, and casual games.
Rohit Sharma, the CEO of Reliance Entertainment (Digital Business), says:
“Zapak Plus offers an opportunity to millions of gamers to experience some of the biggest titles in PC gaming at less than Re 1 per month, in the comfort of their homes. Zapak is now a destination not only for Flash games but for PC games, too. Gamers, who hitherto had access only to highly-priced gaming DVDs or poor quality pirated game DVDs, can subscribe to Zapak Plus and enjoy good quality full-version PC games at affordable pricing.”
It will be interesting to see how successful this new Plus package turns out to be. If you’re a gamer, tell us what you think in the comments.
