World Celebrates India’s Cricket World Cup Victory on Facebook and Twitter

Congratulations to India for winning the 2011 Cricket World Cup at home soil! The world has gone wildly happy for you on Facebook and Twitter. I’m seeing multiple updates per second on both sites. It’s nice to see how the world comes together to congratulate India. Even non-cricket fans (like me) are excited over India’s victory at the Cricket World Cup.

One of the tweet said, “congratulations team India for winning the cricket world cup!!! Celebrations out on the street all over!” Penn Olson’s Sahil Shah has also taken time off to witness and celebrate India’s victory.

An update on Facebook graciously said “Besides, congratulating Team India for winning ICC CWC-2011. Thanks to all Bangladeshi, Indians and Sri Lankans for keeping beautification of cricket during this prestigious event.” I particularly like this update.

It was the same hype that we witnessed at the World Cup last year (football). Twitter went wild when Japan won Denmark. The microblog recorded a whopping 3283 tweet per second. I wonder what’s the tweet per second for “congratulation India” on Twitter as it is currently a worldwide trending topic on India.

Also, don’t miss Nike’s marketing campaign “Bleed Blue” which supported India through its victory. Nike’s campaign hit the jackpot with India’s victory. It was victory earned through hard work, though. May happiness fill the country; have a great day celebrating, India.
