In brief: India’s ShareChat banks $100m in Twitter-led round
- ShareChat, an Indian social networking and regional content platform, has completed a US$100 million equity financing round led by Twitter, The Economic Times reported.
- Private equity firm TrustBridge Partners also participated in the round, alongside existing investors Shunwei Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, SAIF Capital, IndiaQuotient, and Morningside Venture Capital.
- ShareChat will give Twitter a ready platform to expand, as the US tech giant looks to go deeper into India’s smaller towns.
- Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the new investors reportedly poured US$70 million to US$80 million in ShareChat.
