Which country has the most mobile subscribers? The U.S claimed first followed by China and India. Both Asian countries are experiencing strong growth in the mobile sector.
It was reported that India added 22.62 million mobile phone subscribers in the month of December last year. The total number of mobile subscribers in India hit a whopping 752.19 million last year. 529.22 million was the total number of active subscribers i.e. 72.53% of the total number of subscribers.

Amongst the top contributors to the growth of mobile phone subscribers, Reliance Communication was the highest resulting in a 3.3 million increase followed by Bharti Airtel’s 3.1 million and Vodafone’s 3 million subscribers.
Broadband and mobile Internet on the rise
Besides mobile, the number of Internet subscribers in India is also on the rise. Broadband subscribers base grew 1.88 percent from 10.71 million in November to 10.92 million in December 2010. The Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) estimated there are around 2 million mobile Internet users and the figure is growing rapidly. Last year, entrepreneur and policy maker, Sam Pitroda, said that the Indian government had planned a US$3.4 billion network facelift across rural areas of India.
It is apparent that India wants to connect with the world through the Internet. With connectivity comes opportunities. What would there be?
