Unveiling the first speaker at Tech in Asia Jakarta 2015

Some of you might have taken a shot at guessing the first speaker we’re unveiling for Tech in Asia Jakarta 2015.

Today, we’re stoked to announce that kicking off the conference with a keynote speech on cloud computing is none other than Dr. Werner Vogels, CTO and vice president of Amazon.

Dr. Vogels will join us on stage to shed light on one of the fastest growing industries globally and in Asia. In 2014, small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) alone spent a hefty US$2 billion on cloud computing services – and that’s just the beginning. A report by International Data Corporation predicts the cloud sector in Asia to grow at an astounding Compound Annual Growth Rate of 67.9 percent, and with good reason.

Fuelling this rocket-speed growth are three main trends we are increasingly seeing in the region: a mobile generation demanding content to follow them on-the-go, remote working, and bring-your-own-device policies of new age employers. In addition, the arguments for cloud computing – reducing costs and IT staff size to name a few – are convincing more SMEs to jump on the bandwagon.

For Indonesia, the host country of our conference, the main driver behind cloud adoption is for firms to increase productivity and sharpen their competitive edges domestically and globally.

Want to find out what’s next? Hear from Dr. Vogels, the man instrumental in getting one of the world’s most sophisticated and largest cloud computing infrastructures off the ground. We know it as Amazon Web Services. He will be giving us an inside look from the frontline of today’s technology and share his thoughts on what’s in store for the community on our main stage in Jakarta.

And our winners are…
