India funding round-up: Practo, Appvigil, Ezetap, Klozee, NightStay

Over US$5 billion of venture capital funding flowed into Indian startups last year. This year, the deals are coming thicker and faster. So we thought it would be useful to start a daily digest of startup funding in India.
Here’s today’s funding round-up:
Practo
Practo, a doctor discovery app, has raised US$90 million in a series C round led by internet giant Tencent. Sequoia India, Sequoia Capital Global Equities, Google Capital, Russian billionaire Yuri Milner, Sofina, Altimeter Capital, and Matrix Partners also participated in this round. After this deal, Practo is valued at US$525 million. Bangalore-based Practo was founded in 2008 by Shashank ND and Abhinav Lal.
Appvigil
Indian app security startup Appvigil has raised US$500,000 in a pre-series A round from NASSCOM Product Council chairman Ravi Gururaj, Yahoo director Gaurav Sharma, former GupShup CTO Viswanath Ramachandran, the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), investment bank RippleWave, and a large unnamed global IT security company. Appvigil scans apps for security loopholes and offers recommendations to fix them. It was founded in 2011 by Toshendra Sharma.
Ezetap
Bangalore-based mobile payments company Ezetap has raised US$25 million in a series B funding round. Horizons Ventures and Capricorn Investment Group participated in this round along with Ezetap’s current investors – Social+Capital, Helion Advisors, and Berggruen Holdings. Ezetap was founded in 2011 by Abhijit Bose, Bhaktha Kesavachar, and Sanjay Swamy.
Klozee
Apparel renting platform Klozee has raised seed funding from TracxnLabs. It allows users to rent designer apparel at one-tenth its retail price. Bangalore-based Klozee was founded by Aman Haji, Prashant Jain and Pratik Moona.
NightStay
NightStay, a mobile-based marketplace for last-minute hotel bookings, has raised seed funding of about US$500,000. The round was led Vivek Bihani of Bedrock Venture Management. Rajesh Sawhney (founder of GSF) and Shailesh Vikram Singh (executive director of SeedFund) also participated in this round. NightStay was founded in March 2015 by Nasr Khan and Deepak Negi.
