Orbit Startups, a global VC fund that supports emerging and frontier markets, has announced its fifth batch of nine firms that have received seed funding of about US$180,000 each.
The selected startups come from sectors such as healthtech, agritech, mobility, and fintech. They also hail from different parts of the world, including Thailand, Bangladesh, and the United Arab Emirates.
Orbit was originally a program launched by SOSV aiming to help innovative solutions grow across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. In addition to seed funding, Orbit also gives the selected startups access to follow-on investment opportunities.
The VC fund is led by general partners William Bao Bean and Oscar Ramos, who have experience in investing in high-growth markets for the last two decades. The two are also venture partners at SOSV.

- BeeCuick (Mexico) – a startup digitalizing hospitality procurement in Latin America.
- Efinti (Colombia) – a provider of digital asset-backed loans for SMEs in Latin America.
- Fashol (Bangladesh) – a firm that aims to solve agriculture supply chain issues through digitalization.
