
On July 28, SMU Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship will organize IIE Distinguished Speaker Series. There are two speakers: Ashok Rao, CEO of Inlogy and Anil Khatod, Managing Director of Argonaut Private Equity. Both of them will talk about different topics. Ashok Rao will talk about “Angel Investments for Ventures in Emerging Economies” and Anil Khatod will talk about “Sustainable Energy – Fueling Our Future”.
About The Speakers
Ashok Rao, Chairman of TiE Global Board of Trustees and CEO of Inlogy Inc.
Ashok Rao is a serial entrepreneur with four successful high technology start ups. He took one of them Public (IPO) with a market cap in excess of $400mm. He is Currently on his 5th start up. Ashok is also the Chairman & CEO of Inlogy Inc. – developing cutting edge software for enterprises, utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Sense-making. Incidentally, he is also the Chairman of the TIE Global Board of Trustees. TiE isthe world’s largest organization of entrepreneurs. Ashok was one of the first Indian-American to take a company public on NASDAQ and in 2007 he was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award for Entrepreneurial achievement from his alma mater Marquette University. As CEO of Excalibur Pictures, he produced three award winning feature films, released in 2008/09. Among many other accolades, Ashok is also the Angel Investor in 6 high-tech start-ups.
Anil Khatod, Member of TiE Global Board of Trustees and Managing Director of Argonaut Private Equity
Anil Khatod is the managing director of Argonaut Private Equity, a global venture and private equity firm with $5.5 billion assets under his management. Argonaut has significant investments in sustainable energy space including in solar, solar thermal, wind, biomass, natural gas, fuel cell, advance insulation materials and solid state lighting companies. Anil is also the founding partner of the firm’s investment practice in India, where he built a local team, developed investment strategy and has invested more than $600MM in infrastructure, cleantech, technology, retail, financial services and consumer goods companies. In addition to India, Anil also actively invests in technology, cleantech and medical devices sectors in the US and Israel. Anil currently serves on the boards of twelve companies including Memjet Technologies, OmniGuide, Bombay Stock Exchange, Siklu Networks, VenturEast, and CrownBio in the US, India, China, Ireland, Israel and Australia. Anil also serves on the global board of TiE and was formerly president of TiE Atlanta.
