The best League of Legends team in China will be decided this week in the LPL Summer playoffs

With China’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL) Summer 2014 regular season finally over, we next move on to the LPL Summer 2014 Playoffs. This playoff will take place over six consecutive days, with the first match starting tomorrow (August 19) at 4:00 P.M. China Standard Time (GMT +8), and directly determine which teams will enter the Season 4 World Championship China Qualifiers.

We take a look at the teams and schedule below:

First seed: Edward Gaming (EDG)

Previously third in the standings, Edward Gaming jumped to first place with a clutch win against World Elite and a tie against LGD Gaming in the regular season’s final week. However, even as the first seed and LPL Spring 2014 champion, EDG has not been showing champion material. The team’s reliance on ClearLove to make plays has worked before, but now the star jungler needs to pick it up, or maybe learn a few tricks from the KT Rolster Arrows’ KaKAO.
Players to watch: ClearLove, NaMei

Second seed: OMG

Although OMG failed spectacularly in its final LPL Summer match against Young Glory, fun times were had as neither teams seemed to care too much about the results. But with the team’s drop to second place, OMG puts itself in a dangerous position as it next faces Star Horn Royal Club (SHRC).
Players to watch: GoGoing, Cloud

Third seed: Star Horn Royal Club (SHRC)

Although the team had many issues at the start of the season, which was somewhat expected with the addition of Korean players inSec and Zero, Star Horn Royal Club (SHRC) is looking pretty good right now. During week eight, SHRC won against OMG. During week nine, SHRC won against EDG. During the final week, SHRC had no matches, which meant plenty of time to prepare for its next opponents.

Fourth seed: LGD Gaming (LGD)

With a very impressive performance during the final weeks of the LPL Summer split, LGD was just barely able to grab a spot for the playoffs. Still, it was well deserved as the team has proven it has what it takes against the top teams. With the godlike initiation of support player Pyl and the farmtastic domination of midlaner We1less, definitely do not count LGD out just yet.
