India-based Postman, maker of an API management tool of the same name, raised US$1 million from early stage fund Nexus Venture Partners, according to a Techcrunch report.
Postman is an API testing suite. The most critical feature is Postman Sync, which puts the entire API workflow into one single place to keep track of changes. The tool also helps search APIs, which alleviates the need to check multiple sites. It also has a news feed that provides updates for the ongoing development of an API, and it syncs data to the cloud to root out bugs.
With fresh funding, the startup aims to develop more products to provide comprehensive API development and testing solutions to developers.
The company was started by BITS Pilani alumnus Abhinav Asthana. The idea for it sprang out of issues he encountered himself while developing APIs during his internship at Yahoo. He went on to develop a photo app, TeleportMe, on open source, before launching Postman.
Today, the one-year-old startup has 1.5 million registered users, about half of which are from the US. While a limited version of the service is free, the full Postman Sync service is priced at US$49 per month for up to 10 developers.
