India’s ibiboGroup has acquired bus tracking and analytics startup YourBus for an undisclosed amount, according to a statement by the latter company (hat-tip to NextBigWhat).

In June of last year, ibiboGroup acquired online bus ticketing vendor Redbus. Ibibo is jointly run by China’s Tencent (HKG:0700) and South Africa’s Naspers. YourBus will be integrated into Redbus.

YourBus installs GPS technology in public buses so travelers can stay updated as to when the next one will come. Started in 2011 with the goal of tracking every bus in India, the technology is currently installed in over 200 buses covering 1,000 routes. Bus operators can also use the technology to increase efficiency. End users can monitor buses on mobile and on desktop.

The acquisition aims to strengthen RedBus’ passenger experience. YourBus can use Ibibo’s network and support to close in on its ultimate goal of being the default tracker in all of India’s buses.

The entire YourBus team will join RedBus with the exception of of its co-founders, who will begin work on another startup.

IbiboGroup also runs a flight booking site, GoIbibo.
