Singapore biotech firm Hummingbird Bioscience closes extended series A round

Singapore-based biotech firm Hummingbird Bioscience has raised additional capital in an extended series A round led by fund management company Heritas Capital Management and Seeds Capital, the investment arm of Enterprise Singapore.

Hummingbird’s existing investors, including China’s Decheng Capital, which led the company’s series A round, also participated.

The company plans to use the proceeds from the funding round to further develop its anti-VISTA and anti-HER3 programs to first-in-human clinical trials. It also plans to use part of the new funds to support the expansion of its laboratory facilities and develop its other assets.

With the deal, Decheng Capital partner Victor Tong will be joining Hummingbird’s board of directors. “With Hummingbird’s first lead program having secured funding support for entering clinical phase in USA, we will next further broaden and deepen its global investor base to further drive international market partnerships and development,” said Tong.

Hummingbird earlier received a US$13.1 million product development grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas to support the phase Ia/b trial of its anti-VISTA antibody.
