Who says the middle of the week can’t be awesome? Another home services startup raised funding. A restaurant deals portal, an Uber for house-buying, and a big data startup followed suit. In the meantime, a sweet acqui-hire went down to help men look sharp. And that doesn’t even cover everything on our list – or the travel startup that brought in serious bank. Check out this chunk of companies that made our list for today.

Travel and tourism ecommerce group ibibo raised US$250 million today from global internet and media company Naspers. Ibibo is backed by Naspers as well as Chinese giant Tencent.

The funding will be used to concentrate on ibibo’s position among Indian hotels and on further technology innovation.

ibibo was founded by Ashish Kashyap in January 2007 to organize the transportation and accommodation industry and connect it to travelers. “The commitment from both Naspers and Tencent to ibibo is testimony to the strength of our platforms and the opportunities ahead,” said Ashish in a statement.

Its integrated travel properties include travel booking site Goibibo and online bus and hotel ticketing site redBus.

Home services startups in India are beefing up, and Bangalore-based SayFix proved no exception today, bringing in US$160,000 in an angel round announced today. The round was led by serial investors and entrepreneurs.

Launched in June 2015 by NIT-Allahabad alumnus Nabin Roy, SayFix offers services in areas like maintenance, home repairs, plumbing, electrical services, home cleaning, pest control, and car care. The startup claims to serve over 12,000 customers in more than 1,000 apartment complexes in Bangalore.

“After the acceptance of ecommerce in the country, Indian consumers now want similar experiences while ordering services online and look towards a company like SayFix to take care of its end-to-end customer experiences,” Nabin said in a statement.

Sayfix aims to serve 100,000 customers across five metro cities within a year.
