Healthtech startup Doxper bags $4m to improve healthcare digitization tech

InformDS Technologies, the company behind Indian healthtech startup Doxper, has received US$4 million in the first close of its series A round, led by healthcare-focused fund Alkemi Venture Partners.

India-based Rainforest Venture Network, existing investor GrowX Ventures, and certain marquee angel investors also participated in the round.

Doxper uses machine learning and artificial intelligence in their data capture solution to help doctors digitize case sheets. It created a digital pen and encoded paper that physicians can use to write medical records, which can then be synced directly to the hospital’s electronic record system.

According to Doxper co-founder and CEO Shailesh Prithani, healthcare digitization has moved from a good-to-have to a must-have amid “increasing competition, patient empowerment, and several converging standards and regulations” in India.

The firm plans to use the new funds to drive growth and expand across the country, invest in its technology to improve the accuracy of its handwriting recognition engine, and develop products in business and clinical analytics.

To date, the firm claims to serve roughly 1,600 independent clinics and 20 corporate hospitals in India. Through its platform, it claims to have also digitized case sheets for over 3.3 million unique patients, with a total of nearly 5 million records.
