Malaysian EV firm teams up with local ad agency for brand placements on motorbikes
Rodeo, a Malaysian advertising firm, has announced a partnership with electric vehicle company Eclimo for brand placements on 300 electric motorcycles by the end of the year.
Rodeo focuses on outdoor advertising by turning vehicles into moving billboards on demand. It also provides real-time data to advertisers and offers brand activation campaigns, which allow consumers to physically engage with a product.
Founded in 2008, Eclimo offers subscription-based plans that encourage riders and logistics and delivery fleets to use electric motorcycles. A share of the revenue from ad placements will be paid out to subscribers as additional income, according to a statement.
The EV firm’s subscribers will need to hit a minimum number of key performance indicators every month to be eligible for the allowance. Details of the KPIs have not yet been disclosed.

“This partnership will create a win-win situation and will create new revenue streams for all stakeholders. As for advertisers, this would be an awesome platform to position their brand as one that supports eco-friendly initiatives, ” said Rodeo co-founder and CEO Valens Subramanian.
The size of Malaysia’s motorcycles market, which grew a record 30.8% in the first quarter of this year, is one of the biggest in the world. Both companies eye this market as large a prospective EV user base and an opportunity for wide-scale ad reach.
“Eclimo aspires to go regional with Rodeo by 2022 and make Malaysia the hub for electric two-wheelers in ASEAN,” said David Chuah, Eclimo’s business development director.
