Grab opens its regional center of excellence in Malaysia

Grab has launched its regional center of excellence in Malaysia โ€“ the second showing of its โ€œstrongโ€ investment back home. The first one is the opening of its research and development facility in Kuala Lumpur last month.

Grab Malaysiaโ€™s country head, Sean Goh, explained that the investment back into the country is part of Grabโ€™s response to Malaysiaโ€™s call for public-private partnerships to drive the countryโ€™s Industry 4.0 blueprint and digital economy ambitions.

The regional center of excellence will spearhead the development of an in-house pool of highly skilled professionals. Together with the R&D center, it targets to create 400 new โ€œhigh-valueโ€ jobs, bringing its total Malaysia-based employees to 1,000. โ€œThey will be given the opportunity to take a regional lens in offering solutions and implementing projects,โ€ Grab said in a statement.

The newly expanded 54,000 sq ft office space will house the companyโ€™s โ€œcore business strategy and operational functions,โ€ which includes legal, customer experience, financial services, and creative services.
