Singapore social commerce app Shopavision banks $374k, to launch this month
Shopavision, a mobile-first livestream commerce app, is set to launch this month in Singapore as it aims to capitalize on the growing demand for livestreaming from merchants and consumers.
It recently received S$500,000 (US$374,000) in seed funding from an unnamed angel investor, which it plans to use to grow its team, capture more of the market, and enhance its systems and analytics capabilities.

Shopavision has been bootstrapping since last year and was supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, according to a statement.
The Shopavision mobile app is free and available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. Through the app, shoppers can discover and engage with brands during livestream shows. They can also instantly buy showcased products and make payments through credit cards, PayNow, or e-wallets GrabPay and RazerPay.
For sellers, the company said it added interactive livestream features, as well as sales management, customer relationship management, audience profiling, and data analytics features to its app. Merchants can also connect and restream to their social media pages from the app in real-time.
“We want to build an ecosystem that supports the merchants and create opportunities for people to become livestream hosts, especially those whose incomes have been affected by the pandemic. This could become a second career for them,” said Rachel Pang, founder and CEO of Shopavision in a statement.

Before the app’s launch, the company claims it generated more than S$60,000 (US$45,000) in sales after conducting more than 60 livestream shows on the Shopavision Facebook page. Currently, the app has close to 30 livestream hosts and a variety of merchants on board, it claimed.
