Grab aids Indonesia’s Covid-19 vaccination push via drive-through service

“Southeast Asia’s ride-hailing giant Grab is setting up drive-through vaccination services across Indonesia in collaboration with the government to help the nation inoculate more than 180 million people against Covid-19,” Bloomberg reported.

Details:

  • The initiative began on February 28 in Bali, marking the first vaccination drive of its kind in Southeast Asia, said Ridzki Kramadibrata, president of Grab Indonesia.
  • The Indonesian government will supply vaccines from Morderna and Sinopharm for use in the private program.

Context:

  • Indonesia has made it mandatory for eligible people to take vaccination shots as the archipelago continues its fight to curb Covid-19’s spread.
  • The government aims to vaccinate 70 million of the country’s population by August – a third of its total target of 181.5 million.
