Google Play store to integrate ShopeePay payments in Indonesia
“ShopeePay, Sea‘s digital payment service, announced its integration with Google Play Store, aiming to capitalize on the surge of online payment usage in Indonesia,” DailySocial reported.
Details:
- As part of the tie-up, ShopeePay will be available for use for purchasing apps, topping up games, and subscribing to video-on-demand services.
- Users can use the service by adding ShopeePay to Google Play’s payment menu then confirming a purchase through a pin or through biometrics.
Context:
- The move comes after a recent Neurosensum survey said that ShopeePay was being used by 68% of the participants living across eight cities in Jabodetabek, Java non-Jabodetabek, and outside Java Island.
- The research firm’s Indonesia executive Tika Widyaningtyas said that ShopeePay was preferred by users because it’s already integrated within the Shopee app.
