Glance provides artificial intelligence-driven personalized content in multiple regional languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bahasa, on the lock screens of Android smartphones. It has also partnered with several Android smartphone brands to display entertainment, sports, fashion, and news content, among others.
“Too many Indians still have trouble finding content to read or services they can use confidently in their own language. And this significantly limits the value of the internet for them, particularly at a time like this when the internet is the lifeline of so many people,” said Caesar Sengupta, vice president at Google.
The India-based InMobi will use the new investment to develop its AI capability across Glance and its video-sharing social media platform Roposo, expand its technology team, and launch newer services.
The Glance-owned Roposo, which boasts over 100 million downloads on the Google Play Store, claims to host over 33 million monthly active users who spend 20 minutes daily consuming content across multiple genres in more than 10 languages.
Roposo is also among the regional applications that capitalized on the ban of Chinese apps in June, which has presented India’s homegrown apps a platter of opportunities.
Glance claims to engage over 115 million daily active users, who spend 25 minutes on the platform per day.
