It appears that sometime between yesterday and today, Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has quietly made its Nexus 7 tablet available for Japan-based consumers.
The 16 gigabyte version of the tablet is now selling on Google Play for 19,800 yen (or $254), but buyers will also get 2,000 yen in Google Play credit upon activation [1].
That’s a pretty competitive price considering the current tablet competition here in Japan. If you’re in the market for tablet, and the 7-inch form factor looks good for you, this would certainly be a decent choice. My colleague Steven has one, and likes it a lot.
Although an iPad Mini is still expected to be just around the corner, if you don’t mind waiting to see what the future holds.
For Japan, 7-inch tablets could strike a sweet spot given that they are a little easier to hold with one hand, which certainly comes in handy when you’re on a moving train and clinging to a strap with your other hand.
