SG investment group partners with Snoop Dogg’s son for Web3 fund

Golden Equator, a Singapore-based private investment group, is raising up to US$50 million for a Web3 fund in partnership with Cordell Broadus, the son of rapper Snoop Dogg.

The Welcome To The Block Fund will target early-stage businesses, specifically startups focused on centralized finance (CeFi), decentralized finance (DeFi), and Web3 infrastructure.

The fund will deploy three strategies, making equity investments into Web3 businesses as well as investing in pre-listing tokens of Web3 projects and in listed tokens with high liquidity.

Through these investments, Golden Equator aims to drive the mainstream adoption of blockchain technology and improve understanding of sound tokenomics and benefits of fractionalization.

Golden Equator will only open the fund to accredited investors with interests in the Web3 ecosystem as well as media and entertainment.

Moving into Web3 and teaming up with Broadus, who also owns the Bored Ape NFT Champ Medici, will help tap into the tech’s potential for financial inclusivity, said Shirley Crystal Chua, Golden Equator’s founder and group CEO.

The partnership will be done through influencer marketing agency Gushcloud International. Althea Lim, Gushcloud co-founder and group CEO, will join the fund’s leadership as part of the deal.

The fund, which aims to launch by year’s end, will be managed under Golden Equator Capital Pte. Ltd., which holds a capital markets services licence in Singapore.
