Private investment group Golden Equator bagged around USD$18 million in a strategic investment round led by entrepreneur-investor Taizo Son through his venture Mistletoe.
Other investors in the Asia Pacific and Middle East (APACMEA) also participated, including members of the royal families, chairpersons of multinational corporations, C-level executives from sovereign wealth funds, and academics, according to a statement.

According to Golden Equator, the investment would help it expand overseas while continuing to be based in Singapore to bridge the APACMEA region. โBy connecting the different communities in the region, we want to harness the synergy that will enable us to bring about changes that are relevant for the future together,โ said founder and group CEO Shirley Crystal Chua.
Founded in 2012, Golden Equatorโs business mainly covers financial services as well as innovation and adoption of new technology. The company says it currently has clients from 12 countries in 10 markets.
The Singapore-based firm teamed up with Korea Investment Partners in 2018 to launch a US$87 million venture fund aimed at investing in series A and B technology companies in Southeast Asia.
