Edtech firm founded by Gojek alumni closes pre-series A
Indonesia-based Binar Academy, an edtech platform for developing digital talent, has raised an undisclosed amount in a pre-series A follow-up funding round co-led by Teja Ventures and iGlobe Partners, with IWEF (a YCAB Ventures and Moonshot Ventures joint fund) participating.

The fresh funds will be used to expand operations, increase user acquisition, and further build the company’s team. Binar Academy will also continue to work on its curriculum and mobile app.
Binar Academy offers a variety of different learning programs such as bootcamps, employee training, and workshops. It also links bootcamp participants with companies through the platform’s Job Connect feature. The firm recently launched BinarGO, a digital module that encourages independent learning. The company has acquired a number of large partners such as Bank of Central Asia, Mandiri, Telkomsel, Tokopedia, Traveloka, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, among others.
The global edutech market was valued at US$254.8 billion as of 2021, with a compound annual growth rate of 15.5%, according to a Research and Markets report.
Binar Academy was founded by Gojek alumni Alamanda Shantika, Seto Lareno, and Dita Aisyah in 2017.
The company said its revenue doubled in 2021 from the previous year. It is currently targeting 4x growth in revenue.
