Get Hooked At SportsHook

SportsHook - LogoTargeted at sports lovers, SportsHook is a new social network aimed at helping you share tips to improve your sporting level, meet other people who love the same things you do, and organize events.

SportsHook - DashboardThe Dashboard shows you at a glance the Groups and Conversations that people are taking part in. There’s also a section that shows you profile photos of members. The left side autorefreshes with a new sport every few seconds – this aspect facilitates discovery of new sports on the system.

This layout is consistent throughout, even as you create and open new tabs of sports above. The tabs allow you to quickly zoom into the sports you like to better keep track of the conversations happening within them.

It’s easy to do so but you might get frustrated if for example you type in ‘blading’ but can’t find anything. This is because ‘blading’ is listed under ‘inline skating’ for SportsHook. There will be a page for ‘inline skating’ but none for ‘blading’. A suggestion would be to have a function which detects commonly used names for a sport and ‘suggest’ to the user “did you mean inline skating?“.

Tabs and Suggestion of sports.

A small but neat feature is the automatic arrangement of tabs alphabetically every time you add a new tab. As you type, SportsHook narrows your sport down to the variants.

A key feature of SportsHook is that you can now organize activities and invite other members of SportsHook, you can also email people not on the network to join (though they will need to sign up to mark their attendance). The difference between this feature and Facebook Event’s isn’t that salient.

Only benefit is that there is less hassle when telling people not on the network about the event as you can email them directly from SportsHook, while you would have to open your email inbox separately and email them the link to the Facebook Event page.
