Hyper Square was the winner of the Critic’s Choice award at this year’s Casual Connect Asia and it is absolutely amazing. If you only play one game this week make it this. Hyper Square is a fast-paced, twitchy-fingered puzzle game revolving around filling square-shaped holes with squares. While that may sound dull, Hyper Square is a combination of LSD visuals, intense user-generated music, and insanely difficult puzzles, which require dexterity and thinking speeds that pushed me to my limits.

Hyper Square’s visual are amazing, its tunes are hypnotic, and the challenge will keep you coming back for more. I don’t know what else I can do other than shout ”go and buy it now you fool” through your screen! And yes I said buy it. For $1.99 (on sale currently for $0.99) you can play one of the best puzzlers I’ve ever played, with zero in-app purchases or ads. Doesn’t that sound like perfection? Puzzle game Roto is a minimalist, intellectual approach to the one-button mobile games that have been all the rage recently. The Android-only puzzler involves you getting a small ball to a flag laid across a landscape of larger spheres, collecting stars in the process. Your ball sticks to each sphere and rotates around it; tapping on the screen sends the ball flying, and where it lands depends on the angle at which it launched off. As you progress through the game, you’ll encounter obstacles such as chainsaw spheres.
Roto is free-to-play on Android, but you can only unlock later chapters and levels by collecting all the stars in the first, truly-free chapter. The less skilled of us can opt to pay real money to unlock more chapters. Roto can be downloaded here.
