Games in Asia Meetup Singapore: Growing your own startup

gia-singapore-meetup

The best way a gaming studio can progress isn’t by its founder attending classes, or putting more of his savings in, or even simply by hunting down an investor. The best way, really, is to scale and get larger so you can accomplish more, and that’s just what Nonstop Games did.

Initially a small social game startup working on HTML5 games, Nonstop Games – founded by four guys from Finland – later moved on to develop a massive real-time multiplayer strategy game, Heroes of Honor. Midway through development of Heroes of Honor, the studio raised a US$2.9 million seed round led by Creandum and Lifeline Ventures. And eight months after the game’s launch, Nonstop Games got acquired by King.com with an upfront cash payout of US$6M, US$10M for certain employees, and an additional US$84M payout over a four-year period subject to meeting revenue targets.

It’s been quite the ride for Nonstop Games, more so for its CEO Juha Paananen. You can bet he’s picked up quite a few tips on scaling and growing a game startup along the way. So you’ll be pleased to know Juha will be speaking at Games in Asia’s upcoming Singapore meetup this November 11, where he will share tips on how to build game startups.

I love creating great experiences for people. Also dabbles in florals and lettering, a fair bit of gaming, and enjoys lots of traveling. Happy to connect for collaborations for Tech In Asia events!
