G-cluster is a multi-platform cloud gaming service that caught our attention here at Tokyo Game Show 2013. It provides users with a small white device which can be connected to a PC or TV through HDMI. The G-cluster can access over 300 games through the internet.
A representative at G-cluster says that users can buy the product for about 10,000 yen ($100) and enjoy 50 games for just 500 yen ($5) each month. Alternatively, users can also just pay for games they want to play. Some of the game publishers working with G-cluser include Disney, Ubisoft, EA, and Warner Brothers.
G-cluster is obviously targeted at families who just wish to enjoy casual games without the need to think about choosing a console or purchasing new games from brick and mortar shops. The price is also much lower than consoles. Besides Japan, G-cluster is also distributing its devices to France and Vietnam. According to the reps at TGS, G-cluster has sold 10 million units so far – which is pretty impressive.
