Fotobook iPhone App is a Facebook Photo Mobile Network

Singapore-based Anideo has shipped yet another iPhone app. This time around it is FotoBook, an iPhone app that stores your Facebook photos with one simple tap. After logging in with your Facebook account, Fotobook will gather all the photo albums created by your friends in one neat stream. It allows easy photo browsing, commenting, and storing of your favorite albums in your iPhone camera roll.

While it may sound trivial, there could be a need for this. Many of us have probably experienced pulling out our iPhones to show our friends photos that we recently uploaded to Facebook. Accessing the photos over 3G is a pain as it takes time to load. Fotobook solves this problem since photos are saved in the camera roll which can be viewed even when offline. With the photos stored on your iPhone, it also allows easy syncing with your computer, simplifying the process of transferring Facebook photos through multiple devices.

I tried Fotobook and thought it was a pretty cool way to learn what my friends have been up to by quickly scanning their photos. Fotobook also allows users to search for a friend’s photo albums, in something that might be called a Facebook photo mobile network.

I like the simplicity of the app. It’s just three tabs on the screen which makes it easy-to-use. But I wondered if there could be even more content imported from services like Flickr, DailyBooth, and Instagram. Andrew Solimine, co-founder of Anideo, tells me that his team has already made plans for Fotobook to sync photos from other platforms. An iPad version of FotoBook will also be launching soon, in response to popular demand.

When I asked how the app has been doing so far, Solimine explained: “The first few days after launch have been really positive. We should be able to cover our development costs possibly within the first month. I guess that’s a benefit to our rapid development strategy.” Fotobook only took three weeks to build.

I was also told that team Anideo is currently working on “a cool iOS” game which will be launching in early August. We will be hearing more from them soon.

One last interesting piece of trivia about Anideo: Facebook’s co-founder Eduardo Saverin is Anideo’s lead investor.
