Foursquare and Gowalla are good. But in my opinion, they are never good enough to achieve longevity. Users aren’t boy scouts who love collecting badges.
A tangible benefit is dearly missed here. If everything remains the same, I wonder what will happen once the check-in novelty effect starts wearing off.
Singapore-based start-up, Foound, has a different approach. Instead of check-ins and badges, it actually helps to ease a user’s pain.
Organizing a meet up with your friends can really be a painful experience. The time, venue and who’re the people involved in the meet up are frequently asked questions by the people whom you invited. Speaking from personal experience, the organizer would be so tired managing that the gathering isn’t as fun as it is supposed to be. All these problems wouldn’t exist if you and your friends were connected through Foound. Catch the demo below to get a clearer picture.
The demo is pretty impressive, isn’t it? Foound has great potential and could be the next mobile app giant. It has a compelling product that the world would certainly be thankful for. [iTunes download link]
Of course, threats from Facebook (location and events), Foursquare and Gowalla still exist. We shall see how the team navigates through different challenges. What an exciting journey!
