Flipkart takes on Amazon with new loyalty program (India). Flipkart Plus will launch on August 15, the country’s Independence Day. Like Amazon Prime, the membership scheme will offer faster and free delivery and early access to sales events, among other benefits. Amazon Prime entered India in 2016. (Reuters)
Lazada removes seller commission fees (Singapore). The ecommerce group is scrapping charges it levied on merchants of 1 to 7 percent commission per sale. The move is aimed at boosting profitability for small vendors and lowering prices for consumers in the city-state, according to the company. (Reuters)
