“Ecommerce firm Flipkart said it will deploy over 25,000 electric vehicles by 2030, in line with its aim to fast-track the adoption of EVs across cities,” Livemint reported.
Details:
- The company is looking to shift its fleet to EVs and help set up charging infrastructure across delivery hubs and offices in India.
- Citing an unnamed company executive, the report noted that Flipkart has already started piloting and deploying two- and three-wheeler EVs across multiple cities, for a total a 450 units. It has partnered with third-party manufacturers such as Hero Electric, Mahindra Electric, and Piaggio for the initiative.
Context:
- Flipkart announced last year that it would be shifting its entire fleet to EVs within the decade, joining the global electric mobility initiative of the non-profit The Climate Group.
- Local rival Amazon India recently said it has partnered with Mahindra as well, as it aims to add 10,000 EVs to its delivery fleet by 2025.
