Chinese ecommerce giant JD.com has announced its large language model called ChatRhino.
By combining 70% generalized data with 30% native intelligent supply chain data, JD said its latest AI model offers targeted solutions for real industry challenges across sectors such as retail, logistics, finance, health, and city. It aims for “serious commercial applications” of the service in early 2024.
Meanwhile, global ecommerce firm Shopify also introduced its AI digital assistant for merchants. Called Sidekick, the digital assistant aims to help merchants improve productivity and workflows as well as enable them to spend less time on operational tasks.
Both companies join a growing list of tech firms developing AI features for their platforms, which include the likes of Alibaba and Zoom.
In May, Southeast Asian ecommerce firm Lazada rolled out its ChatGPT-powered AI chatbot called LazzieChat. The chatbot can answer shoppers’ queries, give product recommendations, and look up item descriptions.
