US IT firm ServiceNow buys Israeli AI startup Traceloop

ServiceNow has bought Israeli startup Traceloop in a deal estimated between US$60 million and US$80 million, marking the company’s third Israeli acquisition in under three months.

Traceloop is a two-and-a-half-year-old Israeli startup that builds AI observability tools and has raised US$6.1 million while serving customers including IBM, HiBob, Miro, and Dynatrace.

Co‑founders Nir Gazit and Gal Kleinman previously held engineering roles at Fiverr; Gazit also worked on machine learning at Google, and Traceloop is a Y Combinator alumnus.

Its platform is built on the open-source OpenLLMetry and automates evaluations of AI agents to detect failures and track real-world behavior before fixes are deployed.

Traceloop’s CEO said the platform will be combined with ServiceNow’s AI Control Tower.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

ServiceNow’s purchase builds an end-to-end AI governance platform

  • ServiceNow plans to weave generative AI into the Now Platform, which automates enterprise workflows 1.
  • ServiceNow will fold Traceloop into AI Control Tower, a ServiceNow product that lets clients manage and govern AI systems from one dashboard 2.
  • Traceloop runs on the open-source OpenLLMetry project. It automates evaluations of AI agents (software that can carry out tasks on a user’s behalf) to catch failures and track real-world behavior before a fix ships.
  • Open standards support interoperability, so teams can mix AI tools with less risk of vendor lock-in 3.

The deal opens a new battleground for enterprise software in AI trust and safety

  • The “AI observability” market is maturing fast. These products track how AI systems behave in production.
  • As pilots turn into live deployments, monitoring and remediation software starts to resemble cybersecurity plumbing 2.
  • The purchase follows a buy versus build choice in a market that moves quickly.
  • Large enterprise firms acquire specialized AI startups for product expertise plus scarce engineering talent, which speeds roadmap delivery 2.
  • Model quality still matters. Governance and safety features can win regulated industries that need auditable AI deployments.
