Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Awoken is the first huge upgrade since FFXIV’s August release, and fans are rightfully excited. The patch is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday December 17, 2013, but through a video released last week, Square Enix has revealed some of their bigger surprises. Take a look.
Let’s break down this 10 minute video.
What? New dungeons???
Ok, so maybe new dungeons isn’t such a shocker, but the new patch offers a variety of new dungeons that are sure to add an absurd amount of life to the game. These new dungeons include Crystal Tower, which is a tower made of (you guessed it) crystal that is said to reach to the heavens, and Pharos Sirius, a once abandon lighthouse that is now controlled by the dreaded sirin of Umba.
If those two new dungeons weren’t enough for you, the trailer also teases a quest to stop the Moogles from resurrecting their legendary leader, Good King Moggle Mog XII.
The trailer also teases A Realm Awoken’s new ‘Extreme Mode’ which will allow you to fight some boss battles in what looks to be a near impossible difficulty. The video shows off a few of Crystal Tower’s boss battles in this new extreme mode, and man do they look epic.
These new dungeons alone are enough for any fan to be sucked back into the world of Eorzea, but there is so much more to discuss.
Show off your stuff in the new Wolves Den
If you were one of the many who are disappointed in the lack of a versus mode in the original FFXIV, then you will be excited to hear that the new patch allows you to go steel to steel with players from around the world with the games addition of the ‘Wolves Den.’ The Wolves Den will be found off the shores of Limsa Lominsa and will allow for the games first PvP arena matches.
Look good as you dungeon crawl
