Entrepreneur Creates “Facemash” for Singapore General Election

Storepair, a start-up in development stage that describes itself as a “locational social e-commerce directory that connects businesses and customers” wants to ride on the Singapore General Election wave by launching a Facemash-like webpage for politicians (screenshot above).

For those who don’t know, Facemash was a web “service” randomly placing two photos side-by-side asking users to choose the ‘hotter’ person. It was an early project by Mark Zuckerberg, prior to Facebook.

Entrepreneur Eason created a similar “Facemash” webpage for the Singapore General Election and here’s a note we received from him:

“We created a Facemash-alike webpage as a sub project for Singapore Elections. The purpose is to create awareness by liking the candidates they like the most.”

Eason also inserted a disclaimer that reads, “Visitors’ votes do not represent the actual vote for Singapore Elections 7 May 2011.”

It is a brave step forward but I’m not sure how the politicians would react to his gimmick. Well, at the very least he got the coverage he wanted. It did capture my attention.

Is Eason ingenious or otherwise? You be the judge.
