In India, Facebook Up, Orkut Down [CHART]

India sweet serenityFacebook overtook Orkut in India back in July 2010 and is now way ahead in terms of unique visitors count.

Compared to a year ago, visitor growth to Facebook was up by 167 percent in September 2010, reaching 24.3 million visitors. On the other hand, Orkut witnessed a 19 percent increase to 18.7 million visitors. The online social space in India is growing as a whole, but Facebook is certainly growing faster than average.

Of course, kudos to Facebook’s engineers and designers for making such an addictive site. I’m pretty sure many of you reading this have Facebook on one of your browser tabs now.

It provides so much more options for businesses to engage with consumers, not just in India, but also around the world.
