Today at Simplify360, we attempt to explore the relationship between the number of Facebook fans and engagement Level (likes and comments). Our simple study revealed some interesting findings. A Facebook Fan page with one million fans would receive (on average):
- 309 comments per update
We took 50 Facebook fan pages with a random mix of Indian, European and American brands. A couple of the pages were taken from sports teams like Mumbai Indians and Arsenal, and few from celebrities like Barack Obama and Lady Gaga. The complete list of 50 Facebook pages is as shown below.
Interestingly, most Indian brands on Facebook top the list when highest rates of ‘likes’ and comments are considered. Reliance World has the highest Comments Rate at 2,626 per Facebook update, while Infosys has the highest ‘Like’ Rate at 3,743. The only US Brand to make it into top 10 is Fox News.
More on the research
The ‘Likes’ Rate is defined as the average ‘likes’ a post would get if the number of fans for the page is normalized to one million. Same applies for ‘Comments’ Rate.
The data was collected from last 5 updates of the Facebook pages considered for the study. Polls and updates by fans are not considered.
There is no value for ‘Tuborg’ Facebook Page as updates from the page admin isn’t available. The company seems to have opened the page and left for users to post and engage among themselves.
