Experian Hitwise Wants To Measure World’s Largest Internet Market

experian-chinaExperian, known for its Internet analytics services announced the launch of Hitwise China on Wednesday.

To measure China, the world’s largest Internet market with more than 477 million users, Hitwise China will track more than a million websites over 130 industries across major search engines in the nation. It will also receive data from opt-in panels and Chinese Internet service providers to firm up its analysis.

From what Hitwise has reported, it seems like the Internet analytics company has it all covered. That’s of course assuming that Hitwise China will also track data from popular social platforms like Sina-Weibo , Tencent Weibo, Youku, Qiyi, Renren, and Tencent Qzone.

John Peng, managing director at Experian China, explained in a statement that demand from businesses have triggered Experian to launch its Internet analytics service in China. Apparently more businesses are looking to market themselves in China. The number of foreign brands that have joined Taobao in recent months is one of the many signs that proves the growing popularity of China as a marketplace.

Experian Hitwise will compete with other Chinese Internet research firms including iResearch and Analysys. Besides China, Experian also operates in other parts of Asia including Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, and Singapore.
