In brief: Tokopedia taps ex-chief of Indonesia central bank to lead commissioners board
Tokopedia announced today that Agus Martowardojo has joined the company’s leadership as president commissioner.
Martowardojo has over 30 years of experience as a banker, finance minister, and central bank governor. As the governor of Bank Indonesia, he was active in maintaining the stability and resilience of the Indonesian economy by optimizing monetary, macroprudential and payment policies, as well as management of rupiah circulation.

Previously, Martowardojo was also the head of Bank Mandiri, Indonesia’s largest bank. As Tokopedia president commissioner, he leads the company’s board of commissioners, which in turn oversees the board of directors.
His appointment comes as the ecommerce giant evolves into infrastructure-as-a-service to fulfill its mission of “democratizing commerce through technology.” To that end, Tokopedia raised US$1.1 billion from SoftBank and Alibaba late last year.
