ESG: a new hope

Hello readers,

Over the past few weeks, I was emceeing the semifinals of this year’s edition of our Startup Arena Pitch Battle series. There, we gave entrepreneurs a stage to pitch their startup ideas in front of thousands of viewers and a panel of investor-judges. All the participants stood a chance to win attractive prizes and grab the attention of VCs from across the region.

This year, we were specifically on the lookout for startups in the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sector, which I truly believe deserves a lot more attention and investment than it gets right now. It was exciting to hear about the innovative solutions our participants are working on, the problems they’re trying to solve, and the future that they want to create for the world. As they pave the way with their efforts and (hopefully) successes, I hope it will inspire the next generation of budding entrepreneurs to come up with many more innovative ESG solutions.

You can learn more about this year’s Startup Arena Pitch Battle participants and watch the playback of the semifinals on the Tech in Asia Conference 2021 website. And be sure to get your tickets to Tech in Asia Conference 2021 to watch the finalists battle it out for the US$10,000 grand prize.

You can find all the important investment deals that took place over the last few days in our weekly funding news wrap-up.

Let’s dive into the biggest deals and M&As that recently took place.
