Hello readers,

Indian edtech startup Byju’s looks like it’s having a wonderful 2020 so far, if the amount of
funding it’s gotten is any indicator.

This week, the company raised US$500 million in its latest funding round, off the back of a US$122 million investment from DST Global in late August. And that’s on top of the other investments that have been made into Byju’s earlier this year.

Edtech startups on the whole seem to be doing well, which makes sense. Education is important, after all. With Covid-19 disrupting learning experiences in one way or another around the region, parents are willing to spend in order to make sure their children don’t fall behind – and investors are certainly taking note.

You can find all the other important investment deals that have happened in the last few days in our weekly funding news wrap-up.
