Dragon Laser game for Android Wear is a first from Singapore

Game development in Southeast Asia is still at a relatively nascent stage, and many studios choose to focus on what’s simple and fast to complete – mobile games for smartphones.

Singapore-based studio Dreamrocket, on the other hand, has tried something new with Dragon Laser, a game for smart watches. According to the studio, it’s “easy to pick up, yet challenging to master,” and users are guaranteed to smile every time they break their previous high scores. We can’t test this due to a lack of hardware, but it does look like a simplified version of Tetris.

Producer Yandhie D. Pratopo says Dragon Laser was the result of an internal game jam. The Dreamrocket team is currently working on a new undisclosed project, having moved on from its 3D strategy game Lord of the Guardians. Dreamrocket’s privately-funded team has members from triple-A development backgrounds like Ubisoft, Capcom, LucasArts, Konami, and more.

Pratopo adds that the Dreamrocket culture is to “always explore and learn about new technology,” saying that learning to code for wearables may not have an immediate impact now, but that preparing beforehand is always a good idea.
